Golden Broom

The Golden Broom award is given to the person who best represented the club that session. Each captain nominates someone from the club ; most goals scored, most goals saved, best locker room vibe,
played multiple positions, and so on and so forth. It can be for anything the captain deem worthy. Once the nominees are selected the previous session's winner passes the broom off to the nominee of their choice.

2025 Winter:

Golden Broom nominees:
Morse, Matt: "I’ve watched Matt get better every single game he steps out on the ice. Always has a good attitude on the bench, willing to play where ever needed and a couple goals on the season to show for the hard work"-Joey T.
Solt, Caleb: "While he is relatively new to broomball, Caleb has a desire to really improve his game and it has shown over the season. He is always looking to learn by asking questions to veterans on our team and he is always open to feedback. Not only does he want to understand the game mentally, he plays with heart and hustles on every play - something this team has depended on given our continually short bench. This drive for improvement has made him an extremely valuable player on our team this season and will make him a key player moving forward in our league." -JERRY!
St. Jon, Dan:"Dan St. John is a solid team player who always brings his A-game on the ice. His excellent defense and quick adaptability make him a key asset to the team. Beyond his skills, his energy is contagious and lifts everyone around him, keeping us all motivated and focused. Dan’s positive attitude, both on and off the ice, make him an obvious choice for Golden Broom." -Martha
Whitcomb, Allison*: "Allison has shown so much growth in her abilities this season. Her confidence on the ice seems to have improved and now she's a scary force to be reckoned with. It's clear her hard work is paying off" -Vince.
2024 Fall II:
Golden Broom nominees:
Comer, Kelly: Rock solid all season, kept his team competitive each game. An even better carpool buddy to his favorite pal, Mike Garlow. Gratz Kelly on a fun season. Everyone should wish for a teammate like him.
Helm, Travis: In addition to being a solid player on the ice, Travis uses his knowledge of the game to make everyone better and elevates the overall level of the team. He's happy to step up for whatever the team needs in a given week, whether it's iron-manning defense, advice for a new captain on bench-coaching or lines, or just to lighten up the mood. And really, who could forget his love for Ke$ha and Fireball that he's always willing to share in the locker room? Thanks for being you, Trav!
Jones, Cassie*: She has been a trooper filling in for half of our games this season. We ran short a lot of games this season so she had a lot of shots against her but still only had a couple of goals get by her. Her great attitude and flexibility made her a no brainer for our golden broom nominee.
McEwan, Paul: Paul always has a positive attitude on and off the ice and has stepped up for the team, playing every position as needed. We love our torch holding ranger
Solt, Caleb: Caleb is wrapping up his first full year of broomball. Having never played before, he shows great improvement every session. He always has questions, sometimes toooo many questions, but wants to learn the game and play better at every opportunity. He runs with endless energy and his enthusiasm is infectious.
2024 Fall I:

Golden Broom nominees:
Brooks, Kara*: A fiesty defender all year, and pushed up to offense when needed. Marple actually had to drop back and play defense for once. I don’t think defense is her first choice but proved she can play with the best of them.
Marriner, Sean: Shows up for every game with energy and enthusiasm. Top goal scorer and a great teammate
Schaffer, Kara: Kara was thrown into a new position and adapted very well to the many challenges that came her way this season. She played with confidence, but also a willingness to learn. It’s hard to follow all the orders Tom Mach constantly yells at his defenders but she found a way to do it with a smile. She was an integral part of this team and a pleasure to play with overall!
Rex, Dave: Rex's positive attitude encourages the team to keep pressing to go for the win every week. He has kept us in every game making fantastic saves! He also has 3 shutouts this session, besting every other goalie.
